DETERMINANTS FACTORS OF CLEAN AND HEALTHY BEHAVIOR ON THE SUNGAI RAMBUTAN VILLAGERS AT NORTH INDRALAYA DISTRICT

Abstract

Backgorund : Based on 2010 data, the incidence of diarrhea and Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI)  in South Sumatra Province is still quite high. Similarly in Ogan Ilir regency, the number of diarrhea and ARI are still quite high at 8358 and 23308 patients with diarrhea and ARI. This is probably due to the low coverage of safe water that is 39.19%, lack of knowledge society, unhealthy behaviors and other factors. So the purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards Clean and Healthy Behavior in the Village Sungai Rambutan District North Indralaya Ogan Ilir in 2011.

Method : This study used an observational design with cross sectional. The population were all Sungai Rambutan Villagers. The sample totaled 108 people were selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected through direct interviews with respondents using a questionnaire. Data analysis was performed univariate and bivariate analysis.

Result : That the majority of respondents aged over 30 years (74.1%), the majority of education below high school (98.1%), the majority of respondents worked nonformal as farmers / laborers (77.8%). Of the total respondents 39.8% had good knowledge and 59.3% who have an attitude of not supporting the clean and healthy behavior, while 69.4% of respondents who do not behave in a clean and healthy living. There is a significant relationship between community knowledge clean and healthy behavior with value pvalue = 0.004. There is no significant relationship between attitudes towards clean and healthy behavior with Pvalue = 0.085.

Conclusion : That knowledge is a determinant factor affecting the Clean and Healthy Behavior at Sungai Rambutan Village community. It is recommended that health promotion activities are held in the form of counseling and continuous programmed by the local health center in the region in realizing the Clean and Healthy Behavior in society.
