SICK BUILDING SYNDROME DAN INDOOR AIR QUALITY

Abstract


Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) is a situation where the occupants of the building experiencing health problems and discomfort due to time spent in a building with some of the symptoms such as mucous membrane symptoms, fatigue and headaches, even skin symptoms. SBS Complaints are also generally very faint and often overlooked because it is considered as a common cold or flu. SBS is a major factor in the poor of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) due to air pollution is usually caused by poor ventilation, pollutant gases such as CO, NOx, SOx, emissions of ozone from copy machines, pollution of the furniture and wood panels, smoke cigarettes, and so forth. SBS will indirectly affect the productivity of all occupants of the building, if allowed to continue. Therefore it is necessary for the maintenance of Indoor Air Quality by performing maintenance on HVAC systems, environmental monitoring and maintenance of buildings periodically and regularly in order to be free from any contaminants.
