THE EFFECT OF HEALTH EDUCATION ON PARENTS' BEHAVIOR IN TODDLER TO POTTY TRAINING

Abstract


Background: Individu must be able to perform self-care on their needs. The parents role is an important things  in self-care activities, especially to toilet training in toddler. To run the self-care activities, parents need to be responsible on child's self-care, the formation of personality, and provide an effective education, so its will be needed effort in applying toilet training in toddler  by provide a health education. Its also to be determine the effect of health education on parents' behavior in toddler self care to potty training.

Methods: The research method is pre experiment with one group pre-post test design with quota sampling. The study was conducted from February to July 2011. Respondents in this study amounted to 22 mother who have pre school child in PAUD Plaju Ulu Village . The data collection was a questionnaire administered before and after health education. The test statistic used was Mc nemar with significance level α = 0.05.

Result: There were no significant differences between knowledge (p value = 1.00> α = 0.05), attitude (p value = 1.00> α = 0.05), and practic (p value = 0, 12> α = 0.05) before and after the parents are given health education.

Conclusion: There are no different of parents behaviour abaout toilet training after health education. Therefore, training or health education about toilet taining toddler must be do more frequently in order to be better parents behaviour.
