FACTORS RELATED WITH THE UNSAFE ACT IN UREA PLANT PT. PUPUK SRIWIDJAJA PALEMBANG

Abstract


Background: Unsafe act is an act or acts of one or several employee that increase the likehood of accident. Unsafe act is influenced by very complex factors and can not be separated from human factors and environmental organization. The goal of this research was to determine the factors which correlated with unsafe act in urea plant PT. Pupuk Sriwidjajaj Palembang 2010.

Method: This research is an analitic reseach with cross sectional design. The research samples are employees of urea plant PT. Pupuk Sriwidjaja 2010 total 64 people. Statistics test using Chi-Square with confidence level 95% and significant level 5%.

Result: There was a significant correlation between knowledge of hazard with unsafe act (p value = 0,015). There was a significant correlation between attitude of hazard with unsafe act (p value = 0,002). There was a significant correlation between Occupational Health And Safety (OHS) training with unsafe act (p value = 0,029).

Conclusion: Research suggestion, companies need to re-activate safety meetings program and sharing of work experience between the senior and junior workers. To improve good attitude of hazard, companies need to provide motivation to work. The company expected to increase Occupational Health And Safety (OHS) training with variety methods and given in rotation to all workers.
