DESCRIPTION OF NUTRITIONAL STATUS AND MANY FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF CHILDREN WHO HAVE 2-5 YEARS OLD IN FARMER’S FAMILY AT PELANGKI MUARADUA, SOUTH OKU

Abstract


Background : The Children who have 2-5 years old are one of the groups that has nutrition vulnerable because their acceleration of growth and development make them requires more energy and nutrients. This research aimed for knowing description of  nutritional status and many factors that influence the nutritional status of children who have 2-5 years old in farmer’s family at Pelangki Muaradua, South OKU.

Methods : Used the design cross-sectional. The  sample was 114 persons getting with proportional random sampling.

Result : That nutritional status based on BB/U index is 29,2% as a good nutrition at 3 years old, 62,2% and 24,4% as a less nutrition at 2 and 3 years old, whereas the children who have more nutrients is only one at 3 years old and no one has a poor nutrition. Nutritional status based on TB/U index is 30,4% as a normal nutrition at 3 years old, 60,0% of short children who have 2 years old and 60,0% of high children who have 2 years old. While, nutritional status based on BB/TB index is 26,1% as a normal nutrition at 3 and 5 years old, 60,0% the children who very thin at 2 years old, 35,7% is the thin children at 3 and 4 years old and only one who has obese at 5 years old. The results of cross tabulation indicate that of 30 there are 2 years old and 3 years old. There are 15 persons was very thin in factly malnutrition and they are a family with low incomes, lack of nutritional knowledge, small families, without dietary, and the level of energy and protein consumption is less or being.

Conclusion : This research is there are many children who have 2-5 years old with less nutritional or very thin. It’s due to by low income, lack of nutritional knowledge, and the level of energy and protein consumption is less. Mother can be suggested to increase her nutritional knowledge especially about the intake of nutrients, government assistance such as subsidies for fertilizers and agricultural tools. The employee at posyandu were expected to give their knowledge about nutrition through health promotion especially to prevent of  nutritional problems of the children.
