FACTORS THAT ASSOCIATED WITH SEXUAL RISK BEHAVIOR FOR STDS INFECTED AMONG TRANSGENDER AT PKBI SOUTH SUMATRA

Abstract


Background: Transgender was a phenomenon that increasingly flourished in Indonesia. Most of the transgender was living as commercial sex workers (CSWs). The high number of transgender currently impact on the increasingly high rates of transmission of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in Indonesia. Therefore, transgender became an important part to care. The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with risk sexual behavior for STD infection among transgender.

Method: This study is a descriptive analytic research design based on a cross-sectional approach. The population of research was 58 people, so that the sample is all part of the population. The univariate and bivariate  used as the analysis to test chi-square.

Result: From the results of research known that there was a signifivicant between age (p-value = 0,035; RP=3.636), education (p-value = 0,020; RP=7,083), knowledge (p-value = 0,000; RP=19,286), susceptible perception (p-value = 0,000; RP=15,086) and seriously perception that respondent feel (p-value = 0,035; RP=3,636) with sexual risk behavior for STDs infected. There is no relationship between job (p-value = 0,799; RP = 1,486) with sexual risk behavior for STDs infected.

Conclussion: Advice of the research made a legal regulation from government that requires condom use at prostitution area especially for CSWs and klien. Beside that, necessary to be improvement the information and knowledge about sexual risk behavior for STDs infected and the effect that found
