ANALYSIS OF OCCURANCE DETERMINANTS OF HYPERTENSION IN MERDEKA PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER
Abstract
Background : Hypertension is a non-commucable disease that are not directly kill the sufferer, but through its fatal complications on the eyes, heart, kidneys and brain. Basicly, hypertension will decrease life expectancy of sufferers. Data from Palembang city health office showed that the higest cases of hypertension in Palembang was in Merdeka public health center about 5.806 cases in 2011. This study aims to analyze the occurance determinan of hypertension in Merdeka Public Health Center of Palembang.
Method : Kind of this study was cross sectional analytic approach. The population of this study is entirely patient that used public services of Merdeka Public Health Center during research. The technique of sampling use in this study was accidental sampling. Data were obtained from primary data and secondary data. Primary data in form of interviews and secondary data in form of doctors diagnostic.Data analysis was performed with univariate and bivariate analysis with chi-square.
Result : The resulths showed that statistically, significant variables related to the occurance of hypertension are age (p = 0.0001), family history of hypertension (ρ = 0.025), cigarette consumption (p = 0.031), coffee consumption (ρ = 0.045), obesity (ρ = 0.011), sports (ρ = 0.011) and excessive salt intake (ρ = 0.001). While that is gender (ρ = 0.038), alcohol consumption (ρ = 0.740) and use of oral contraceptives (ρ = 0,821 ) do not have a relationship with Analysis of occurance determinants of hypertension.
Counclusion : The authors suggest that doing a routine counseling along with blood pressure assesment on participants of counseling, deliveralibility of leaflets, posters, etc., and expectation the community to conduct a periodic checks blood pressure, particularly hypertensive patients, along with the application of diet and healthy lifestyle.
